Hot Spot Movie Review: This Is It
In what would have been rehearsal footage for Michael Jackson’s final concert in London, This Is It provides a glimpse into the final days of Michael’s life along with an intimate look at his creative process.
Being the huge Michael Jackson fan I am I couldn’t wait to see the movie. I dragged my son out of the house on a school night because for me it was important. I never had the opportunity to see Michael perform live. This felt like my last opportunity.
This Is It made me appreciate Michael’s musical genius.
His passion. His drive.
He loved music and felt that it could truly heal the world.
Though the footage wasn’t meant to be viewed by the masses, you’ll feel as though you are at an actual concert as he performs hits like Smooth Criminal, Beat It, Thriller, Man In The Mirror and many more. And when you see all of the thought that was put into each of the performances, you’ll feel like Michael performed with you in mind.
I was mesmerized how at 50, Michael pulled off his signature moves, performing routines with dancers half his age. How he listened and heard every note, every breath, even the silence, and how his voice was just as beautiful as I remembered it to be.
At times he restrained himself from taking it to church.
You’ll realize that Michael was a perfectionist. And you’ll laugh out loud when he tells the crew members that he’s asking them to make changes out of l-o-v-e. You’ll smile as he reminds them, “That’s why we have rehearsals.”
I walked out of theater with a warm heart remembering why I love music so much. Seeing him in his final days assured me that he is and always will be the King of Pop.
